Established 1890

An Olympic year is always a special year for the Athletics Club, with a number of athletes typically vying for selection. The Club very proudly saw three members achieve selection with another two being formally named as 1st reserves for their event groups. Excitedly for the Club, Buxton Scholarship holder and medical student Jemima Montag finished the Paris games with 2 bronze medals from her race-walking competitions.

At the grass roots level, MUAC saw an increase in numbers competing in both the Athletics Victoria Winter (AV XCR) and Summer (AVSL) seasons. A highlight at the end of XCR was 5 men's teams finishing with top three placings in their respective divisions (2 firsts, 2 seconds and 1 third). In the Women’s competition the Division 1 team finished 5th overall. Marlgun Wagner finished 2nd in the overall individual U 20 Champion Athlete XCR competition.

Whilst MUAC competes in Div 4 of the AVSL summer track and field competition (this competition is tilted towards participation rather than performance and hence the clubs with big membership numbers, including many junior athletes tend to populate the higher divisions) and finished 3rd in that Division, narrowly missing promotion to Div 3, it continues to achieve a high finish in the HH Hunter Shield competition which is based on awarding points for each performance at track and field state championship events. MUAC finished 4th in the 2023_2024 season only5 points away from equal 2nd.
