The Mountaineering Club has progressed significantly in leadership, representation, and participation this year. The Club continues to recruit new leaders for bushwalking, rock climbing, paddling, and other sports; 84 current volunteer leaders run trips for the Club’s 725 members. In addition, women continue to find representation in the club. A successful advanced women’s Mount Bogong hike and upskilling in ropes, bikepacking, and paddling have made the club a more inclusive environment. Despite increasing membership price, Club membership has increased by 8% this year. The Club should attribute this to its diverse, vocal, and present members that welcome first-year undergraduate students and mid-PHD researchers alike.
